Ultrasonic cleanings

Riverbend Dental Center's Ultrasonic Cleaning device, the Cavitron, is considered the market leader in ultrasonic dental cleaning technology. This high tech device actually uses high frequency sound waves to clean the teeth and build up which can lead to those dreaded cavities and even tooth loss. Dr. Schmidt says think of the Cavitron as a pressure washer for your teeth to remove tarter, which actually contains bacteria and plaque trapped inside. Ultrasonic cleaning is also a much more effective way to also remove stains and control oral bacteria by breaking down the cell wall of the bacteria. The Cavitron can be used for basic preventative care, or to treat more advanced problems with the teeth and gums as well. Most patients report that the ultrasonic cleansing experience is pain free, and much faster than the old traditional scraping method which required repetitive scraping movements and a lot more time in the treatment chair.
